DESIGN AND DISPLAY
The Huawei Y6S comes in two different colours, one is mystic orchid blue and the other a black starry finish. The rear panel on the Blue Huawei Y6S smartphone comes in two different textures, with the lower part less susceptible to fingerprints. The top part of the rear is of a glossy finish while the bottom is a matte finish. The Glossy part is where you will find the fingerprint scanner to unlock the phone. The black Huawei Y6S model, on the other hand, evokes images of a starry sky through glittering particles. On the back of the phone, there is a newly designed camera module that includes a larger, round bezel for the camera lens and a separate LED flash next to the fingerprint scanner. The device is sturdy and has a good grip. The phone comes with a fingerprint sensor on both colour options, this is an upgrade on the previous model! The Huawei Y6s is relatively light but sadly does not offer as much in terms of battery capacity. A whopping 32 GB of storage is impressive for the price range for sure and even has a dedicated Micro SD slot as well as space for two other SIM cards.CAMERA
The Huawei Y6S phone comes with a solitary 13-megapixel camera at the back as well as an 8-megapixel front camera. The images taken on this Huawei Y6s look quite decent in normal lighting conditions. For a phone near 120 euros, the main camera cuts a good figure. Sadly, in weaker light, the pictures are just okay and in lux illuminance, there is hardly anything to be seen in the pictures. Videos can also be recorded in crisp 1080p and 30 frames per second. The quality is decent here as well, but only as long as the lighting conditions are fairly suitable. The performance of this Huawei camera is notable in the daylight. But does have internal algorithms that work well for close up shots and focus on the object from the background. Which creates a lovely blur effect on the images you capture closeup. The camera also captures bold and vibrant colours very well.SCREEN
The Huawei Y6S comes with preinstalled apps like AliExpress and Booking.com which can be useful for some, however most users would prefer to uninstall these apps and choose for themselves what apps to download. It can become tedious having to uninstall these pre-existing apps. The phone is supported by Linux based EROFS file system tech that can compress the apps to save memory on the device. The Huawei Y6S supports all google services that most of us are used to using so this is a plus for new users. The screen display has a resolution of 1560 x 720 pixels and is on par with other phones of this class. The display is fairly sharp but not as good as a Full HD display. The brightness is Okay, but there are brighter smartphones on the market! The screen has a strong blue cast as well which does not help. Lastly, we measured the flickering of the screen under 10 percent brightness and the reaction times will definitely be too slow for gamers. Hence slow response rates will be bad news for any potential gamers!PERFORMANCE AND BATTERY
In terms of performance, the Y6s is truly mid-tier. It will handle most of your daily tasks but occasional hiccups may occur. The mono loudspeaker on the bottom edge offers a decent sound and can get quite loud. Huawei calls it the Super-Sound, and the combination of speaker and built-in audio hardware actually allows for audible low middles and a full sound. The Huawei Y6S has 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage which is a tempting amount of storage for users, this can be extended to 512GB by using a MicroSD card. For a battery life comparison, look no further than the Samsung Galaxy A10. It holds out for 12 and a half hours on our WLAN test. For you, it probably means charging it every one or two days. Huawei offers facial and fingerprint unlocking which works well without much lagging or faults. The transferring of files works at a reasonable speed internally and externally. The Huawei Y6s phone is powered by a 3020MAH battery that can last for a day with the normal day to day usage of the phone. For those of you who use social media and games on the phone the average battery drain you will see is 10 to 14% in 60mintues and to charge the Huawei Y6s takes an approximate 2hours and 30minutes. So, to sum it all up, the Huawei Y6S has a decent enough camera and the fingerprint sensor is a great working feature, it has a good memory capacity and loud speakers. The Downside of the Huawei Y6s is that the battery power is not great and the blue cast in the display is distracting and can be annoying to some users. The Huawei has tried and succeeded to get most out of the phone with the limited possibilities. The decent camera, dedicated micro-SD slot, and fingerprint sensor do elevate it above the rest in its class. So, while not a revolution in its cheap class, it is still a very good phone for the price! If you are looking for an affordable and simple device to use then this Huawei Y6s may just be what you are looking for. But if you plan to use the apps and games on the phone more than the daily user then perhaps look for a device that can meet your needs.STAR RATING
